Guy Fawkes Day is observed in Britain, Australia & New Zealand on November, 5. The holiday marks the failure of Guy Fawkes who tried to blow up the king and members of Parliament in 1605 in return for increasing repression of Roman Catholics in England. All the festivities of the holiday are centred on the use of fireworks and the lighting of bonfires.
