January 6, 2011 Holiday – La Befana in Italy

La Befana or Epiphany is a national holiday in Italy that marks the end of the Christmas season and commemorates the day when the three Wise Men arrived at the manger bringing gifts for Baby Jesus. Over the years La Befana in Italy has become even a more celebrated holiday among children than Christmas. The night before the Epiphany children hang their stockings and wait for the old lady La Befana to come on her broomstick and bring sweet gifts and toys.

Recommended gifts to Italy for this holiday: sweet and chocolate gifts, fruit baskets, tea coffee gifts, wine gift baskets
