April 5, 2011 Holiday – Qingming Festival in China

Tomb-Sweeping Day or Qingming Festival is a traditional holiday in China of commemoration for dead ancestors and celebration of spring. On this day Chinese families travel to the family tomb to sweep, clean and place flowers or other memorials on the grave. Qingming Festival is also a day of outdoor activities like swing, polo, willow-planting and kite-flying.
