June 7, 2011 Holiday – Shavuot in Israel

Shavuot in Israel is one of the Biblical feasts which commemorates the day when God presented Torah to the people living in Israel, it was initially celebrated as a harvest festival. There’re many traditions connected with Shavuot holiday in Israel which include eating dairy products traditionally served on Shavuot (Torah obliged Jews to eat kosher food, but since they didn’t know the laws of animal slaughter, they ate diary), decorating synagogues and homes with flowers, visiting special religious ceremonies.
