January 6, 2011 Holiday – La Befana in Italy

La Befana or Epiphany is one of the oldest and most observed legends in Italy. It marks the end of the Christmas season and the day when according to the Bible the three Wise Men arrived at the manger of baby Jesus. The holiday is especially loved by children even more than Christmas as on this day an old witch lady on the broom comes to each house and bring gifts for good obedient children.
