March 1, 2012 Holiday – Omizutori Festival in Japan

Omizutori is the oldest Buddhist festival in Japan (more than 1200 years old) annually observed during 2 weeks starting on the first day of spring March, 1. Each night big torches are lit outside japanese temples making a specular fire show. Sparks from the torches are believed to have magic powers, they purify souls and comemmorate the coming of spring.
