May 17, 2012 Holiday – Constitution Day in Norway

Constitution Day in Norway is observed on May, 17 and celebrates the first constitution of the country adopted back in 1814. The main part of the celebration includes parades of marching school children dressed in national costumes and carrying Norwegian flags. After the parade the children are engaged in various games and activities. Constitution Day in Norway is also a popular day for hot dogs, ice cream, traditional sour cream porridge and all kind of desserts.
