December 6, 2012 Holiday – Saint Nicholas Day

Saint Nicholas Day is annually observed on December, 6 in many countries including France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Belgium, Greece, Serbia, Bulgaria, etc. Saint Nicholas is a big event for children because on this day not Christmas Eve they receive their gifts. According to the legend, the patron saint St Nicholas come to good children’s houses at night and fill shoes or stocking left for him in front of the fireplace or at the front door with gifts, nuts, sweets and cookies.
