May 24, 2013 Holiday – Independence Day in Eritrea

Independence Day is one of the most significant public holidays in an African country Eritrea annually observed on May, 24. On this day in 1991 the people of Eritrea got independence after a severe 30 years battle against Ethiopian army regime.

The holiday is widely observed all over the country, however, the biggest celebrations are held in Asmara, the national capital. Cultural programs, parades, carnivals, live music concerts, traditional dances performances are the necessary part of celebrating Independence Day in Eritrea.
